DEVICE AND METHOD FOR PROCESSING SUPERIMPOSED DIALOGUE OF VIDEO APPARATUS HAVING SEPARATE DISPLAY

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent video signals from being encroached by superimposed characters when simultaneously displaying video signals and superimposed characters on one screen by displaying the superimposed characters on a display different from a monitor picture for displaying the video signals. SOLUTION: Caption data CD outputted from a caption data processing part 51 are inputted through a switching part 52 to an LCD driving circuit 55. On the other hand, only a composite video signal CVD is impressed through a mixer 53 to a TV monitor 54, and only the video signal is displayed on the screen of TV monitor 54. Based on a control signal CTL 2 impressed from a microcomputer 58, at the LCD driving circuit 55, the caption data CD impressed through the switching part 52 are processed into data for LCD drive and outputted to an LCD display 57. On the LCD display 57, the caption data are inputted from the LCD driving circuit 55 and the superimposed characters are displayed. Therefore, the superimposed characters are displayed separately from the video signals.
