Zusammenfassung:	PURPOSE:To obtain an underground radar apparatus by which a reflection due to an underground reburying operation, a pebble, a change in the quality of soil or the like is discriminated easily from a reflected signal from a tubular object. CONSTITUTION:A transmitting antenna 11 and a receiving antenna 12 are composed of respectively two orthogonal elements. Since the transmitting and receiving elements are changed over by a plane-of-polarization changeover device 13, planes of polarization of radio waves which are radiated from the transmitting antenna cross at right angles in terms of time. Also the receiving elements for the receiving antenna 12 are changed over in synchronization with a transmitting operation. The difference in a radar received signal between both planes of polarization is found by a signal processor 15. All the devices are synchronously controlled by a synchronizer 16.
