Zusammenfassung:	PURPOSE:To prevent the occurrence of wear of an oil ring or a ring groove and the occurrence of mixture of wear powder in lubrication oil and seizure of the oil ring owing to the wear thereof and to hold the decrease of a lubrication oil consumption by preventing the occurrence of contact between the oil ring and the ring groove by which a local high surface pressure is produced CONSTITUTION:In an oil ring 10 fitted in the piston of a reciprocating engine, such as an internal combustion engine and a reciprocating compressor, and having upper and lower slide surfaces 11 and 12 making slide contact with the inner surface of the cylinder, the oil ring is formed in such a manner that the width of the upper slide surface is increased to a value higher than that of the lower slide surface.
