COMPOSITION FOR POLYIMIDE RESIN

PURPOSE:To obtain a composition for a polyimide resin improved in heat resistance, dimensional stability, mechanical strengths, etc., by mixing a specified polyamide resin and carbon fibers. CONSTITUTION:A polyamic acid represented by formula II (wherein R is a tetravelent group selected from among a 2 C or higher aliphatic group, a cycloaliphatic group, a monocyclic aromatic group, a fused polycyclic aromatic group and a nonfused polycyclic aromatic group composed of aromatic groups bonded to each other directly or through bridging members) and obtained by reacting an ether diamine represented by formula I (wherein Y is a 1-10C bivalent hydrocarbon group, hexafluoroisopropylidene, carbonyl, thio, sulfinyl or oxido) with a tetracarboxylic acid dianhydride is cyclized through dehydration to obtain a polyimide resin comprising repeating units represented by formula III. 100 pts.wt. this resin is mixed with 5-100 pts.wt. carbon fibers having a diameter of 5-20mum and an aspect ratio of 1-600.
