MAGNETIC RECORDING MEDIUM AND ITS PRODUCTION

PURPOSE: To prevent the adsorption of an org. contaminant having hydroxyl groups as terminal groups as well as an org. contaminant having carboxyl groups as terminal groups on the surface of a carbon protective layer in a magnetic recording medium. CONSTITUTION: In this magnetic recording medium with a liq. lubricative layer 5 applied on a carbon protective layer 4, the liq. lubricative layer 5 consists of a liq. lubricant made of a perfluoro-polyether compd. having carboxyl groups causing esterification bonding to hydroxyl groups (adsorption sites) on the surface of the protective layer 4 as polar terminal groups and a liq. lubricant made of a perfluoro-polyether compd. having hydroxyl groups causing esterification bonding to carboxyl groups (adsorption sites) on the surface of the protective layer 4 as polar terminal groups. Since the adsorption sites on the surface of the protective layer 4 have been already blocked up with the two kinds of lubricants, the adsorption of org. contaminants can be prevented.
