Zusammenfassung:	PURPOSE: To cut ground metal on a tapping hole and prevent the clogging of a gas blowing tuyere by a method wherein the tapping hole, provided on the furnace shoulder or the furnace truck in a furnace, is connected to a part of a gas introducing pipe. CONSTITUTION: A tapping hole 5, provided on the shoulder of a converter 1, is provided with a mechanism wherein a circular molten metal drooping preventing dam is arranged on the outer periphery of the furnace, further, an engaging groove is provided on the outer periphery of the dam so that a connecting tube to the main pipe of a nitrogen gas can be attached easily detachably. The tapping hole 5, provided on the shoulder or the trunk of the furnace, is connected to a gas introducing pipe 7 to blow gas from the tapping hole 5 employing the gas introducing pipe 7 to reduce a temperature in the inner space of the furnace. According to this method, the damage of refractories is prevented and ground metal is cut by blowing oxygen gas from the gas introducing pipe 7 even when the ground metal adheres to the tapping hole 5 whereby the clogging of a gas blowing tuyere can be prevented.
