CONSTRUCTING METHOD OF TUNNEL TRAVERSING WATER CHANNEL

PURPOSE: To construct a tunnel traversing a water channel by an economical method wherein a distance of towing of caissons is shortened, large-scale temporary installation and auxiliary construction methods are not necessitated for construction of shafts and slipway tunnels and execution of work is made easy relatively. CONSTITUTION: A dry dock is built by excavating the ground of a scheduled place of construction of slipway tunnels 5 to be connected to a water bottom tunnel 8 and a required number of caissons 4 are manufactured. Tunnel bodies 6 in the upper parts of the slipway tunnels 5 and shafts 7 are constructed between lateral walls on the deep side of the dry dock. The ground on the water channel side of the dry dock is subjected to underwater excavation, the caissons 4 are drawn in and thereby the lower parts of the slipway tunnels 5 are formed. The water bottom tunnel 8 is constructed by the caisson method.
