SUBSTITUTED TERPHENYL DERIVATIVE AND ANTITHROMBOTIC AGENT CONTAINING THE SAME

PURPOSE: To obtain a new substituted terphenyl derivative, having strong suppressing actions on blood platelet aggregation, slight adverse effects and useful for treating and preventing diseases in the circulatory systems caused by thrombogenesis, e.g. myocardial coronary occulusion, cerebral thrombosis, brain block, etc. CONSTITUTION: This compound is expressed by the formula [R1 and R2 are each H, a halogen, a lower alkyl or a lower alkoxy; X is a 1-8C (branched) alkylene or a 1-8C (branched)alkenylene and CH2 in the carbon chain may be substituted with O or S; Y is OH, an alkoxy, an acyloxy, a carboxyl (salt), a lower alkylsulfonyloxy, an alkoxycarbonyl or an aminocarbonyl], e.g. 3-([1,1':2',1"]-terphenyl-4'-yl)propanoic acid. The exemplified compound is obtained by using methyl [1,1':2',1"]-terphenylyl-4'-carboxylate as a starting substance, providing [1,1':2',1"]-terphenylyl-4'-aldehyde, carrying out the Witting reaction thereof, catalytically reducing the resultant compound and then hydrolyzing the reduction product.
