TELEVISION DEVICE AND METHOD FOR USING IT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To execute a required menu without requiring the detection of a menu item arranged on a hierarchical reference position by using a fetch key, capable of being easily accessed by a single key to select a video image display control function. SOLUTION: A master microprocessor 510 has a controlled function capable of exerting influences upon the reproduction of a television(TV) signal, in accordance with a user command applied through an IR receiver 511. An on-screen display(OSD) processor 500 generates a signal expressing a controlled function menu. Outputs from the master microprocessor 510 and the OSD processor 500 are selected by a selection means 515, sent and displayed on a video processor 520. When a user depresses a fetch key on a remote control unit, a command display including virtual buttons is executed, in response to the key depression. A required button is selected by moving a cursor to execute control. In this case, user customized display can be attained by allocating a higher display order to a preferable command out of plural commands.
