Zusammenfassung:PURPOSE:To restrain not only sludge from adhering to a lightning arrester but also zinc oxide devices from differing from each other in thermal stress by a method wherein the lightning arrester is so arranged that the direction of voltage applied to it is in parallel with an oil surface. CONSTITUTION:A lightning arrester is arranged as deep as Amm in a depth range of 15 to 115mm from the oil surface of insulating oil 2 making its lengthwise direction horizontal (in parallel with oil surface). Openings 7a and 7b are provided to the lightning arrester on an oil-surface side. By this setup, a lightning arrester built-in transformer, wherein sludge is prevented from adhering to a lightning arrester so as to protect it against a short-circuit trouble, and zinc oxide devices are restrained from differing from each other in thermal stress and deteriorating in quality, can be obtained.
