ELECTRODE FOR ASH MELTING FURNACE

PURPOSE: To provide excellent heat resistance and oxidation resistance by forming an electrode having a through-hole for supplying plasma operating gas formed thereon by use of silicon carbide. CONSTITUTION: Two electrodes inserted 5, 6 inserted from the upper wall part 4a of a furnace body 4 into a melting chamber have through-holes 5a 6a for supplying plasma operating gas formed thereon, respectively, and each electrode 5, 6 is formed of silicon carbide(SiC). By using silicon carbide to form each electrode 5, 6 in this way, the electrode is conductive and excellent in heat resistance, thermal impact resistance and oxidation resistance, and the wear of the electrode remarkably reduces although the electric conductivity falls. Thus, a stable plasma arc can be generated.
