OPTICAL CONNECTOR

PURPOSE: To simplify the locking structure of an optical connector, to reduce the number of parts, to decrease the man-hours for assembly and to make a cost low and cost effectiveness high by providing ferrule housing holes and ferrules with projections or grooves respectively and connecting and fitting these holes and ferrules to each other. CONSTITUTION: The projections 6 of the ferrules 5 and the projections 4 of the ferrule housing holes 2 are fitted in contact with each other when the ferrules 5 are inserted into the ferrule housing holes 2 of a receptacle 1. This receptacle 1 is locked by utilizing elasticity and by some fixed holding power as the receptacle 1 is formed of a synthetic resin or rubber, etc. The ferrules 5 are inserted along repositioned precision sleeves 3. The ferrules 5 are provided with stoppers 7 and are positioned by fitting the ferrules to the ferrule insertion planes 8 of the receptacle 1 in contact therewith. The stable optical characteristics are thereby assured.
