LEAK DETECTION APPARATUS OF MECHANICAL SEAL

PURPOSE:To obtain a leak detection apparatus by which the leak of a sealed fluid from a mechanical-seal mechanism can be detected simply and with good sensitivity by a method wherein a carrier fluid is supplied from an introduction hole which communicates with a space inside a stuffing box and the component of the sealed fluid in the carrier fluid discharged from a discharge hole is detected. CONSTITUTION:An introduction hole 21 which communicates with a space inside a stuffing box 2 on the air side by a mechanical-seal mechanism is formed in the stuffing box 2. A carrier fluid 23 as the dehumidified air is supplied to the introduction hole 21 via a pipe 24. A discharge hole 25 which communicates with the space inside the stuffing box 2 is formed so as to face the introduction hole 21. The carrier fluid 23 which is discharged from the discharge hole 25 via a pipe 27 is supplied to a detection means 26. In the detection means 26, the component of a sealed fluid in the carrier fluid 23 is measured, and whether the sealed fluid is leaked to the air from the mechanical-seal mechanism or not is detected by a leak detection means 28 on the basis of a measuring signal from the detection means 26.
