GRINDING METHOD OF LENS

PURPOSE: To provide a grinding method of a lens capable of achieving both the spherical working of the lens and the working of the outer circumference without using a special grinding wheel. CONSTITUTION: In a grinding method of a lens, a lens holder 2 to hold a lens 1 is turnably provided, and a grinding wheel 3 to be rotated is abutted on the surface of the lens held by the holder 2 to create the lens surface. The grinding method has a process where the center of revolution of the lens 1 to be held by the lens holder 2 and rotated is aligned with the end part of the grinding wheel 3, the grinding wheel 3 is set to the prescribed angle of inclination relative to the axis of rotation of the lens 1, and the lens surface is created by rotating the grinding wheel 3 while the lens holder 2 is turned, and a process where the grinding wheel 3 is positioned at the different position from that in creating the lens surface, the outer circumference of the lens 1 is abutted on the grinding wheel 3 while the lens holder 2 is turned, and the outer circumference of the lens is ground.
