SUPERCONDUCTING POWER CABLE

PURPOSE: To prevent the elevation of superconducting conductors from the bottoms of grooves even when coolant is made to flow in a cable, and also prevent the deterioration of electric characteristics by interposing the superconducting conductors meanderingly in plural grooves extending in an axis direction on the peripheral surface of a core. CONSTITUTION: A supercoducting tape-laminated superconducting conductors 2 are interposed in grooves 5 formed linearly in the axis direction of a cable on the peripheral surface of a core 1. In that case the width of the grooves 5 is made to be wide so that the conductors 2 meander in advance. Thereby, even if the core 1 contracts when coolant is made to flow in the cable, only the meandering of the conductors 2 becomes large, and the conductors 2 are not allowed to be elevated from the grooves 5. Like this, since the conductors 2 can follow the contraction and the expansion of the core 1, the deterioration of electric characteristics, particularly a critical current value can be prevented. The connection between the cables to each other can also easily be conducted without using a special mechanism for absorbing the expansion and the contraction.
