COMPOSITION FOR ANTIMICROBIAL COATING

PURPOSE: To obtain a composition for antimicrobial coating capable of stably forming an antimicrobial coating and always constantly keeping functions of the coating by packaging an antimicrobial agent capable of releasing silver ions, etc., and other components separately and mixing them just before useing the composition. CONSTITUTION: This composition for antimicrobial coating comprises (A) an antimicrobial agent capable of releasing meal ions selected from among silver ions, copper ions and zinc ions and (B) a polymerizable monomer as a main component and the component A should the separately packaged from other components of the composition. It is preferable to use an organometallic complex containing polymerizable unsaturated groups such as [Ag(2-(trimethoxysilyl) ethyl-2-pyridine)ethyl-2-pyridine)2 ]NO3 , etc., since the component A combines with the component B, it expresses highly continuous antimicrobial activities and excellent weatherability. As the component B, e.g. an organoalkoxysilane compound, an acrylic acid eater, styrene, etc., can be cited. The concentration of the metal ions in the solid component of the composition is preferably 100-500ppm. The silver ion is preferably >=90% based on the total metal ions.
