Zusammenfassung:	PURPOSE: To provide a plastic pipe connecting method in which a problem which may cause faulty fusion by erroneous measurement of initial temperature is eliminated, the initial temperature of a joint is detected correctly at all times and, based on this detected value, current transmission control for correct fusion operation can be performed. CONSTITUTION: In a plastic pipe connection method in which plastic pipe to be connected is inserted into a plastic joint in which heating wire is buried, and the joint is fused to a plastic pipe by the current transmission to the heating wire, the temperature of the joint is measured with a temperature sensor before current is passed through the heating wire, a variation in the measured temperature is monitored and, based on the variation in temperature, the initial temperature of the joint is determined. Also, based on the initial temperature, current transmission to the heating wire of the joint is controlled. Then the temperature obtained when the variation in temperature reaches below a specified value is detected as an initial temperature of the joint.
