Zusammenfassung:PURPOSE: To obtain a light absorber having a high extinction coefft. CONSTITUTION: This light absorber 3 is made of an aggregate of metallic crystals. The areal fraction of pyramidal metallic crystals 6, 7 in the light receiving surface 4 is 40-100%. The pyramidal metallic crystals 6, 7 are uniformly dispersed over the entire light receiving surface 4 and many valleys 8 can be formed by the adjacent pyramidal metallic crystals 6, 7. The ratio (d/λ) of the average grain diameter (d) of the crystals 6, 7 to the wavelength (λ) of light L radiated on the light receiving surface 4 is >=0.73. The depth of the valleys 8 is increased in accordance with the increase in the diameter (d), and since the depth of the valleys 8 is properly set to the light L having wavelength λ, the probability of appearance of the light L from the valleys 8 is considerably reduced.
