Zusammenfassung:PURPOSE: To make it possible to turn a state set up to an automatic receiving mode to a talking state without giving an uneasy sensation to an opposite party and to suppress the useless expense of a line charge without wastefully occupying a line. CONSTITUTION: When a call tone is generated from a speaker 410 in accordance with the signal detection of a switching signal detecting circuit 406 and a hook-up detecting circuit 407 detects operator's prescribed operation, a telephone set 302 is connected to a line. When the circuit 406 does not detect a signal for a prescribed time, a state of connecting a receiving part 404 to the line is left set up.
