Zusammenfassung:PURPOSE: To provide a power cable with changed strength of a metal sheath made of a lead alloy material in response to the magnitude of the mechanical stress applied to the cable by changing the constituent and concentration of the lead alloy material in the longitudinal direction of the cable, and arranging the metal sheath reasonably and properly. CONSTITUTION: Fe, Sn, Sb, Cd, or Cu of 0.05-2.0wt.%is added to the portion of a cable to be applied with large mechanical stress to improve the mechanical characteristic of the cable. A smaller quantity of Fe, Sn, Sb, Cd, or Cu is added to the portion of the cable to be applied with little mechanical stress to reduce the manufacturing cost of the cable. When Fe, Sn, Sb, Cd, or Cu of 0.05-2.0wt.% is added to the lead alloy material, the strength of the cable is improved by 20-50%, and sufficient strength can be obtained for use as a submarine cable. A pure lead material may be used as a metal sheath at the portion of the cable not requiring such strength.
