Zusammenfassung:PURPOSE: To efficiently produce synthesis gas rich in H2 by adding water to a natural gas contg. CO2 , then, heating this mixture to allow them to react and subsequently, allowing the reaction product to further react at a higher temp. CONSTITUTION: In this production, the synthesis gas consisting of H2 and CO is produced in the continuous two stages, i.e., a stage for steam-reforming hydrocarbons having >=2 carbon atoms and a stage for reforming CO2 with methane. In the stage for steam-reforming hydrocarbons having >=2 carbon atoms, water is added to a natural gas contg. at least >=20vol.% CO2 so that the molar ratio of (the amount of water) to (the total amount of hydrocarbons having >=2 carbon atoms in the natural gas) at the inlet of the stage is 1 to 10 and then, the hydrocarbons having >=2 carbon atoms in the raw material natural gas and water are allowed to react with each other in the presence of a group VIII transition metal catalyst at =700 deg.C to produce the objective synthesis gas.
