Zusammenfassung:	PURPOSE: To obtain a polyglycidyl ester resin desirably used in an outdoor powder coating by forming a linear tert. carboxyl functional polyester resin and glycidylating this resin. CONSTITUTION: A linear tert-carboxyl-functional polyester resin is prepared by reacting an aromatic or alicyclic carboxylic acid (anhydride) (A) having two aromatic sec. aliphatic carboxyl groups with a hydroxyl compound (B) having two prim. or sec. aliphatic hydroxyl groups, a hydroxyl-substituted carboxylic acid (C) having a tert. aliphatic carboxyl and two prim. or sec. hydroxyl groups, and optionally a carboxylic acid (D) having one carboxyl group in a molar ratio A:B:C:D of (X+Y-1):X:Y:Z (wherein X and Y are each 2-8; and Z is 0-2). This resin is reacted with an epihalohydrin in the presence of a base to obtain a polyglycidyl ester resin, and this product is mixed with a crosslinking agent to obtain a nontoxic curable powder coating material freed from residual chlorine.
