Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an improved photographic element including a compound functioning as a scavenger for an oxidized developing main ingredient. SOLUTION: An improved photographic element includes a support having at least one silver halide emulsion layer combined with a pyrocatechol compound functioning as a scavenger for an oxidized developing main ingredient. The pyrocatechol compound is substantially non-diffusible in the photographic element so as to have enough bulk and the tertiary carbamoyl substitutlonal group. The scavenger compounds show very high activity and has excellent stability in long-time preservation, and after processing, it does not leave colored residual material.
