MUCOSA-PROTECTING AGENT

PURPOSE: To obtain the subject protecting agent capable of protecting human mucosa, for example, the mucosa of the rectum, the vagina, etc., against external stimulation and useful for treating hemorrhoids and a vaginal disease by mixing an oil and fat base material with a gelling agent. CONSTITUTION: This mucosa-protecting agent is obtained by compounding (A) an oil and fat base material (e.g. a base material solid at room temperature such as cacao butter, laurin-base hard butter, tallow or a semi-synthetic hard fat, or a base material liquid at room temperature such as coconut oil, palm oil or camellia oil; preferably, a semi-synthetic hard fat among them) with (B) a gelling agent (preferably, a light silicic acid anhydride, a dextrin fatty-acid ester, etc.). Further, the component B is preferably used at a ratio of 1-8wt.% based on the component A. Furthermore, examples of an agent to be compounded into the protecting agent include a steroid hormone such as prednisolone acetate or dexamethasone, a local anesthetic such as lidocaine hydrochloride, an antiphlogistic antipyretic analgesic such as aspirin, a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory antipruritic wound-healing agent such as glycyrrhetinic acid, a vitamin drug, a sulfa drug, an antibiotic, an antifungal agent and an antibacterial agent.
