TELEVISION RECEIVER

PURPOSE: To improve image quality by providing an optimum signal processing band by providing an EDTV-2 identification control signal reproducing circuit, an HH component reproducing circuit, a luminance signal frequency band limiting circuit and a contour emphasis circuit in the next stage. CONSTITUTION: At the time of receiving EDTV-2 signals, identification is performed in an identification control signal reproducing circuit 6 and luminance signal high frequency components are reproduced in a horizontal luminance high frequency component (HH) reproducing circuit 5 and superimposed on main image luminance signals. The band limiting circuit 2 of the next stage receives identification signals and stops a band limiting operation, luminance signals are inputted to a horizontal contour emphasis circuit 3 while keeping a wide band as it is and the video signals of the wide band are displayed. In the case of receiving a normal ground line, an identification control circuit judges normal signals, the HH reproducing circuit 5 is not operated and the luminance signals are added to the band limiting circuit 2. In the case of the normal signals, since the band limiting circuit 2 is operated, the luminance signals are band-limited and then inputted to the horizontal contour emphasis circuit 3 and frequency components outside of the band are not displayed, the video images of high image quality are displayed.
