Zusammenfassung:	PURPOSE: To obtain a cleaning composition comprising water and an organic solvent consisting of a specific compound having an alkoxy group and an ester group, low in flammability, high in cleanability, low in toxicity, and easy in the control and regeneration of the liquid, and useful for cleaning fluxes for printed circuit boards, etc. CONSTITUTION: This cleaning composition low in flammability, high in cleanability, low in toxicity, easy in the control and regeneration of the liquid, and useful for cleaning fluxes for printed circuit boards, removing unnecessary resists adhering to the surfaces of the boards, cleaning metal members or jigs such as machine screws and molds, is produced by compounding water with at least an organic solvent (e.g. 3-methoxyisobutyric acid methyl ester) selected from compounds of the formula (R is methyl, ethyl; R is a 2-9C divalent organic group; R is a 1-4C aliphatic alkyl) in an amount of 15-85 pts.wt. per 100 pts.wt. of the whole amount of the cleaning composition, and subsequently emulsifying the composition under heating or cooling.
