Zusammenfassung:	PURPOSE: To obtain a composite building material having fire retardancy, soundproof properties or the like by mixing a wooden waste material and a binder to mold them and baking and carbonating the molded one to obtain a carbon material layer being a base material and laminating a substrate layer material to the single surface of the base material. CONSTITUTION: A wooden fire-retardant composite building material 1 is constituted of a base material 3 wherein a carbon material layer is fixed to a substrate material layer 2 and the surface layer material laminated to the surface opposite to the substrate material layer 2 of the base material 3. The carbon material layer of the base material 3 is formed by mixing a wooden waste material and a binder to mold them and baking and carbonating the molded one. In order to impart fire resistance to the carbon material layer, baking temp. is pref. 800 deg.C or higher. As the wooden waste material, a powder of a needle-leaf tree such as a cedar or a pine reaching cutting age may be used and, as the binder, a phenol resin is pref. As the substrate material layer 2, a wood panel, particle board or plywood is pref. used.
