METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR CONTROL OF EXECUTION OF INPUT/OUTPUT OPERATION

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control mechanism for interrupting the execution of an input and output operation at the time of reaching a defined limit value by combining many kinds of methods and systems for operating control in a data processing system. SOLUTION: For example, this system is constituted of a memory 12, central processing unit 14, channel sub-system 16, input and output device 18, and control unit 27. The memory 12 includes a CPU program 20 and a channel program 22. The program 20 executes an applied input and output action, and a start sub-channel, resume sub-channel, and suspend sub-channel are provided as the example of an input and output instruction. A channel program 22 is constituted of a channel command word, and executed by the channel sub-system 16. For example, reading, writing, inter-channel transfer, sub-channel resumption, and interruption are provided as the example of a channel command.
