CONSTITUTION: This polymer is obtained by polymerizing crude sodium 2- acrylamido-2-methylpropanesulfonate (A2 ) produced by leaving an aqueous solution of crude 2-acrylamido-2-methylpropanesulfonic acid (A1 ) to stand for >=0.5h followed by neutralization, or polymerizing the component A2 plus another copolymerizable monomer (e.g. acrylonitrile, acrylamide). It is preferable that the component A2 be used after being allowed to stand for >=2.5h.
