Zusammenfassung:PURPOSE: To surely prevent the rupture of a plate in an in-line skin pass rolling mill in a vacuum deposition plating line without manual intervention. CONSTITUTION: A controller 15 for a skin pass rolling mill 3 is installed on the outlet of a vacuum deposition galvanizing device 1. The controller 15 is constituted of a foreign matter detecting means 16 detecting a foreign matter stuck to a strip metal 4, a travel distance detecting means 17 detecting the travel distance of the strip metal 4, a releasing means 18 making longer the interval of the work rolls of the skin pass rolling mill 3 installed on the skin pass rolling mill 3, and a control means 19. The interval of the work rolls of the skin pass rolling mill 3 can be made longer by the control means 19 by driving the releasing means 18 before the foreign matter detection position of the strip metal 4 reaches the skin pass rolling mill 3, responding to the outputs of the foreign matter detecting means 16 and the travel distance detecting means 17. Consequently, since the bite of an attached foreign matter into the strip metal 4 in the skin pass rolling mill 3 can be avoided, the rupture of the strip metal 4 can be surely prevented.
