Zusammenfassung:	PURPOSE:To prevent unlocking even in the case of upward load being applied to a seat. CONSTITUTION:Lock mechanism for a sliding device has a lower rail 1 fixedly provided on the floor face of a vehicle body and having a slit formed in the longitudinal direction of an upper piece 5, an upper rail 6 fixedly provided at a seat so as to slide the seat in relation to the vehicle body, and a locking means for locking the upper rail 6 to the lower rail 1. In the lower rail l, the upper piece 5 with the slit formed has a lock claw 16 facing downward. The locking means has a lock plate 10 with a lock hole 17 formed in the position opposed to the lock claw 16, a sliding part 11 for sliding the lock plate 10 vertically, and lock plate guides 18. With the lock plate 10 slided upward by the lock plate guide 18 or the like, the lock hole 17 is engaged with the lock claw 16 so as to lock the upper rail 6 to the lower rail 1.
