Zusammenfassung:	PURPOSE: To provide an emergency stop device for a machine tool, which can surely suspend its moving members such as a main spindle and the like if power should fail even if a feed motion drive means is driven by a linear motor. CONSTITUTION: The emergency stop device of a machine tool, which prohibits the movement of any moving member 7 such as a main spindle and the like of a feed driving system when power goes off, is provided with a loop member 47 which is connected to the moving member 7, is in an endless loop shape, and is run and moved as the moving member 7 is fed and moved, and with a braking means 37 which instantly fastens the components of the feed driving system when power goes off, and prohibits the running movement of a chain 17.
