Zusammenfassung:	PURPOSE: To provide the subject aqueous solution containing a high-purity long- chain carboxylic acid lactate salt, having low Krafft point and excellent surface activity and long-term preservability (e.g. long-term stability of transparency and surface active performance) and useful as an emulsifier for foods, cosmetics, etc. CONSTITUTION: The objective solution is an aqueous solution of a long-chain carboxylic acid lactate salt containing (A) a long-chain carboxylic acid lactate salt having a purity of >=80mol%. The concentration of the component A is e.g. 0.01-50wt.%. The component A is preferably composed of a lactic acid ester of a 8-24C long-chain carboxylic acid and a basic substance such as an alkali metal or alkaline earth metal hydroxide or carbonate, an alkanolamine or a lower alkylamine at a molar ratio of 1/(0.9-1.3).
