POLYPHENYLENE-ETHER FLAME RETARDANT RESIN COMPOSITION

PURPOSE: To obtain a resin composition enabling the suppression of the forma tion of a mold-deposit material during molding, having good surface appearance, excellent in flame resistance, mechanical property and thermal property and useful for injection molding. CONSTITUTION: This resin composition contains (A) 100 pts.wt. of a polyphenylene ether(PPE) [e.g. poly(2,6-diethyl-1,4-phenylene)ether, etc.] or a mixture of PPE with a polystyrene resin, (B) 3-30 pts.wt. of a flame retardant of an aromatic phosphate ester and (C) 0.01-15 pts.wt. of an epoxy compound. Further, preferably, the component B is a polyphosphate ester derived from a (substituted) polyhydroxybenzene and a polynuclear phenol, and the component C is a compound selected from 3,4-epoxycyclohexylmethyl-3,4- epoxycyclohexanecarboxylate, etc., and the compounding amounts of the component A, B and C are 100 pts.wt., 5-20 pts.wt. and 0.1-50 pts.wt., respectively.
