HOLDING DEVICE FOR RETURNED PAPER MONEY OR THE LIKE

PURPOSE: To hold a paper money so that the paper money is easily drawn out by a customer and hard to fall irrelevantly to the length of the paper money by setting the holding position where paper moneys that are returned at a time in a stacked state and differ in length are held by a holding according to the length of the shortest paper money among them. CONSTITUTION: A control part 25 decides the conveyance-directional length of a paper money received according to a money kind discriminated by a discrimination device 12 and adjusts the operation timing of the holding means 16 so that the holding position of the returned paper money by the holding means 16 is different according to a difference in the length of the paper money. Even when plural paper moneys differing in length are returned at the same time in the stacked state, the control part 25 properly set the holding position of the paper moneys by the holding means 16 according to the length of the shortest paper money. Consequently, when the returned paper moneys are held partially projecting from a return opening 14, the paper moneys can be held so that they are easily drawn out by the customer and hard to fall irrelevantly to the length of the paper moneys.
