Zusammenfassung:PURPOSE: To obtain a sliding material excellent in wear resistance an capable of ensuring smooth sliding characteristics by using a hard phase contg. Ti carbide and a bonding phase consisting of Ni and Co. CONSTITUTION: A mixture consisting of, by weight, 80% TiC, 5% Cr3 C2 , 4.85% Mo2 C, 5.63% Ni and 1.87% Co as two bonding phase component and 1.65% Mo is wet-pulverized with an org. solvent, a binder is added thereto and they are dried. The resultant granulated body is compacted, dewaxed at 300 deg.C and fired at 1,400 deg.C to produce the objective sliding material. Nitride or carbonitride of Ti may be used as the principal hard phase component in place of TiC and other hard phase component is at least one of carbides or nitrides of groups IVa, Va and VIa metallic elements of the Periodic Table other than Ti. This sliding material hardly causes seizing and does not cause coagulation, stick slip or adhesion wear.
