ANTIBACTERIAL MELAMINE RESIN DECORATIVE BOARD

PURPOSE: To keep surface hardness, heat resistance, and light resistance and to maintain the effects of given antibacterial and antimold properties by incorporating an antibacterial composition having an antibacterial film which is composed of aluminosilicate containing metal ions having an antibacterial function on the surface of silica gel into a decorative layer. CONSTITUTION: An antibacterial melamine resin decorative board containing an antibacterial composition having an antibacterial film which is composed of aluminosilicate containing metal ions having an antibacterial activity on the surface of silica gel. A melamine resin varnish is obtained which is a comprehensive product from melamine and formalin as main components, and an antibacterial composition is added to the varnish. A preferable antibacterial agent to be added has a large specific surface area and good antibacterial and antimold properties, is white, forms colloid in a water soluble varnish, and disperses uniformly. Besides, in order to hold antibacterial metal ions on the surface of an ion holding agent such as silica gel, it is preferable for the ion holding agent to be treated with a strong electrolyte such as aluminosilicate to be negatively charged.
