Zusammenfassung:PURPOSE: To reduce vertical resist shift between pages or colors generated because a main scanning synchronizing signal and a recording start signal in a sub-scanning direction are non-synchronous in a multibeam laser recording apparatus. CONSTITUTION: The multibeam laser recording apparatus has a scanning optical system collectively scanning a plurality of the laser beams from a plurality of light sources by a rotary polyhedral mirror and an image forming station composed of an image forming engine wherein image forming means are arranged around a photosensitive member and performs exposure recording to the photosensitive member moving in the sub-scanning direction right-angled to the main scanning direction due to the rotary polyhedral mirror by a plurality of scanning lines continued in the sub-scanning direction by one scanning due to the scanning optical system. A detection means 10 detecting the time lag between the image recording start signal from a recording start signal generating means 9 determining the recording start position in the sub- scanning direction and the main scanning synchronizing signal from the photodetector 6 arranged out of the image range within a laser scanning region and a light source selection means 13 selecting the light source used in the recording of the first one line from a plurality of light sources 1a, 1b corresponding to the signal from the detection means are provided.
