MAGNETIC DISC DEVICE

PURPOSE: To reduce the frictional resistance and to stabilize the sliding by providing a slider applied with a coating which exhibits chemical repellency to the surface of a magnetic disc. CONSTITUTION: The magnetic disc is mounting a slider 2 applied with a coating, which exhibits chemical repulsion to the surface of a magnetic disc, on the surface touching the magnetic disc except the floating face or the sliding face of the slider 2. The coating which exhibits chemical repellency includes a coating wherein the difference of solubility parameter δ between the lubricant for the magnetic disc and the coating material is 2.0 or above or μ>=0.55 is satisfied for the combination of solvent-polymer instruction constant μ, or a coating wherein a combination of -I effect molecules or +I effect molecules is present on the surface of magnetic disc or at the circumferential wall part of the slider. This structure stabilizes the sliding while preventing adhesion and reducing the frictional resistance in a magnetic disc employing CSS recording/reproducing system or a magnetic disc where the floating amount is reduced extremely.
