Zusammenfassung:	PURPOSE: To light an entire character plate with a small power consumption. CONSTITUTION: The surrounding of the lower surface of a glass member 7 on a character plate 5 is formed into a taper part 12 and the surface of the taper part 12 is roughly machined. A light source 14 is allowed to oppose the taper part 12 and light from the light source 14 is diffused by the taper part 12 to light the glass member 7 and the character plate 5. Since the diffusion of light is utilized, only the light source 14 driven at a low voltage may be required, thus saving power.
