DEVICE FOR DETECTING OMISSION OF CHARACTER IN ELECTROPHOTOGRAPHIC PRINTER

PURPOSE: To detect an image defect while writing a lot information on color paper for partition, by a method wherein a form recording mode switching device, contrast density limiting device, and image density reading device are provided and in the case where read density is either higher or lower than a reference image density it is decided to be an image defect. CONSTITUTION: A controller 101 possesses an image memory on the inside and an image signal VIDEO which becomes an ON-OFF signal of laser in accordance with a horizontal or vertical synchronous signal from a printer engine 102 is returned to a printer engine 102. An image density reading device 106 is arranged directly before it is discharged after completion of recording and produced by combining a CCD linear array sensor and LED linear array together. Since contrast density is narrowed in such a manner that image density data from the reading device 106 is varied extending from a little higher density than that of a ground to a recorded image up to a little lower solid density, detection can be performed in a manner that in the case where the image density is close to the ground density, an image defect 1 is given and in the case where it is close to the solid density, image defect 2 is given.
