Zusammenfassung:	PURPOSE: To easily adjust the contrast of liquid crystal display device while holding the tight closure of a numerical control device as it is. CONSTITUTION: An operator inputs a contrast adjusting voltage value for adjusting the contrast of LCD 23 by using a contrast adjusting voltage value input means 1. A contrast adjusting signal output means 2 outputs a contrast adjusting signal complied with a contrast adjusting voltage value to a signal line 3 connecting a graphic control circuit 21a to the LCD 23. The contrast adjusting signal is outputted by utilizing the time interval in which the graphic control circuit 21a does not output a signal to the signal line 3. A contrast adjusting signal separating means 4 separates the contrast adjusting signal from signals on the signal line 3. A contrast adjusting voltage setting means 5 converts the contrast voltage of the LCD 23 to a value commanded by the contrast adjusting signal. Consequently, the contrast of LCD 23 is adjusted by the input from the contrast adjusting voltage value input means 1.
