Zusammenfassung:	PURPOSE:To constitute a contaminated water purifying unit utilizing a ditch reed and to achieve the purification of contaminated water or the stabilization of sludge by fixing a seedbed of a ditch reed to a water floating structure so that water can penetrate into at least the bottom part of culture soil in the seedbed. CONSTITUTION:A peat moss pot 8 being a seedbed impregnated with water is sown with the seed 7 collected from a wild ditch reed 6 and held in a vinyl greenhouse at predetermined temp. The peat moss pot 8 having a ditch reed 2 grown thereon up to predetermined height is fixed to a water floatable structure 10 molded into a loofah shape using a polypropylene resin by bamboo spits 9 and the water floatable structure 10 is floated in a contaminated water purifying channel 12 equipped with a flooding bank 11. Contact sedimeptation, contact oxidation and nutrient salt absorbing action owing to the roots of a ditch reed 2 are utilized to the max. degree to perform treatment up to the bottom water of the contaminated water purifying channel 12 to efficiently purify contaminated water 1.
