METHOD FOR CONTROL IN INITIAL PERIOD OF CASTING FOR CONTINUOUS CASTING

PURPOSE: To automatically control the molten metal surface level until the level attains a stationary molten metal surface from the nonstationary molten metal surface at the time of rising of the molten metal surface in an initial period of casting. CONSTITUTION: The results of the temp. measurement by plural temp. measuring instruments 11a, 11a, 11b, 11c, 12a, 12b, 12c, 13a, 13b, 13c disposed in the vertical direction of a casting mold 4 are subjected to arithmetic processing in first, second, third processing sections 14, 15, 16 for the results of the temp. measurement. The rising speed of the molten metal surface level in a region where a molten metal level gage 10 cannot detect the molten metal surface level is determined in an arithmetic section 17 in accordance with the results of this arithmetic processing. The opening degree of a stopper 7 or sliding nozzle 21 is adjusted by control of a control section 5 according to the determined rising speed.
