Zusammenfassung:PURPOSE: To disperse a treating agent to the level of an original filament when chopping a glass strand to apply it on the surface of a glass fiber by incorporating essentially an organic sizing agent, a textile oil agent and a colloidal silica into the agent. CONSTITUTION: One or more kind of the organic sizing agent such as a vinyl acetate emulsion is expressed by a component A and one or more kind of the textile oil agent such as a nonionic surfactant is expressed by a component B. The colloidal silica capable of keeping colloidal state without aggregating and settling at the time of being added into a mixture of both components of A and B and having 1-50nm diameter is expressed by a component C. For example, the treating agent is obtained by adding 0.05% nonionic oil agent into a water dispersion containing 10-30wt.% silica, stirring for 1hr to disperse it into colloidal state, passing the obtained paste like suspension through a roll and mixing 1-20 pts.wt. silica per 100 pts.wt. solid matter in the mixture except the component C. The obtained treating agent is applied on the glass fiber by a method such as roll coater and is stuck to the glass fiber so that solid matter after drying the treating agent is 0.1-0.5wt.%.
