CONSTITUTION:With an air pump driven, evaporated fuel stuck to a canister 10 is separated and drawn in by suction and simultaneously a secondary air is drawn in via a fresh air inlet passage 24, and they are mixed together and then discharged to an exhaust passage 3. At this time, an exhaust system purge flow control valve 23 and a fresh air flow control valve 25 are controlled for their opening so as to make the air-fuel ratio of exhaust existing in upstream of a three-way catalytic converter 4 to be detected on the basis of the output of an oxygen sensor 5 become the target air-fuel ratio. With this constitution, at the time of engine cold, an ameliorative effect of exhaust characteristics owing to the secondary air suction can be brought into full play as doing a job for purging. |
