COMPOSITE THERMAL RECORDING MEDIUM

PURPOSE:To prepare a recorded image of high density by using a sheet consisting of a coloring material transfer sheet, a thermal recording layer containing leuco dye and a coloring agent on a support and an image receiving layer which receives a coloring material from the coloring material transfer sheet provided sequentially. CONSTITUTION:A coloring material transfer sheet and a sheet consisting of a thermal recording layer containing leuco dye and a coloring agent on a support and an image receiving layer for receiving a coloring material from the coloring material transfer sheet by heating, provided sequentially, are combined together. The coloring material transfer sheet is composed of a coloring material which thermally melts, evaporates or sublimates, applied to the surface of a support such as paper or polymer film. The coloring material is a sublimable dye which thermally sublimates and becomes transferred, and produces a recorded image with superb gradation properties. Further, the support of the recording medium with the thermal recording layer containing leuco dye and a coloring agent and the image receiving layer which receives the coloring material from the coloring material transfer sheet when heated, is of paper, plastic film, metal foil or cloth.
