Zusammenfassung:	Dimethyl carbonate can be obtained in high selectivity and with great time constancy by reaction of carbon monoxide with methyl nitrite in a continuous gas-phase reaction in the presence of a heterogeneous catalyst, which has been prepared by applying one or more palladium compounds of the formula [Pd(N(R ,R ,R ))n]X 2 (I> in which R , R and R independently of one another are hydrogen, C1-C4-alkyl, phenyl or C7-C10-aralkyl and R can additionally be -A -N(R ,R ), wherein -A - is C1-C8-alkylene, C2-C8- alkylene interrupted by -O- or -NR -, or phenylene and R , R and R independently of one another are hydrogen or C1-C4-alkyl and R , R and R and R , R
