CONTROL DEVICE FOR SEWING MACHINE

PURPOSE:To facilitate the assignment of function and the switching of set by providing a means for dynamically switching the assignment of initial set information to a set switch and a memory, in a one having a mechanical initial set switch and an nonvolatile memory for storing an initial set value. CONSTITUTION:A control device for sewing machine controls the operation of a sewing machine driving part 50 or a cloth presser and other driving parts 42 by a CPU 24 according to a prescribed program stored in a RAM 28. The function selection of a sewing machine is dynamically assigned to an EEPROM 30 and a dip switch 34, and the assignment is conducted according to a switch map formed on the EEPROM 30. The set of this switch map is conducted by a method for selecting the assignment to the dip switch 34 or the assignment to the EEPROM 30 by an operation part 38 every function followed by setting. A frequently used function is assigned to the dip switch 34, and a rarely changed function to the EEPROM 30.
