Zusammenfassung:	PURPOSE:To provide a position measuring apparatus by means of a plumb bob wherein rapid and highly accurate measurement is possible while the cost can be reduced and safety in operation can be realized. CONSTITUTION:A position measuring apparatus comprises a plumb bob 1 hung from an object whose position is to be measured, a laser device 12 or a light emitting body attached to a lower part of the plumb bob 1, a translucent target plate 22 located below the plumb bob 1, and a TV camera 6 or a measuring plate 5 located below the target plate 22. This is the position measuring apparatus by means of the plumb bob 1 wherein while the TV camera 6 is attached, a target of the target plate 22 and laser light is recorded by the camera 6 to measure a position of the object based on their positional relation, and while the TV camera 6 is not attached, laser light is directly applied to the measuring plate 5 to allow the position of the object to be visually measured.
